I joined the Brain-Body Dynamics Lab, at University of Southern California, hosted by Prof. Francisco Valero-Cuevas as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2015. I work toward understanding the fundamentals of muscle afferentation using a synthetic analysis approach.

I received my PhD degree in 2015 in Biomedical Engineering from McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada. I worked with Prof. Robert E. Kearney and I studied the neuromechanics of the human ankle joint by creating data-driven models using system identification techniques. My MASc degree (2009) was in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada. I worked with Prof. Amir G. Aghdam and my research was focused on developing a control strategy for efficient control of interference in a wireless network. I did my undergraduate studies (2002-2007) in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Control & Intelligent Processing, Center of Excellence) from University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran.

I currently hold the Fonds de Recherche du Quebec Nature et Technologies (FRQNT) Postdoctoral Research Scholarship (2015-2017). I have received the Biomedical Engineering Excellence Award (2015), Fonds de Recherche du Quebec Nature et Technologies (FRQNT) Doctoral research Scholarship (2011-2012) and Concordia University International Tuition Fee Remission Awards (2008-2009). I was finalist in Student Paper Competition Award of the 34th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (2012).

I have been an active member and volunteer in IEEE since 2008. I have served as the chair of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Chapter, Montreal Section (2011-2015), secretary of the IEEE Montreal Section and VP Communication in Biomedical Engineering Student Society, McGill University (2010-2013). I have been a member of organizing committee of a number of conferences and meetings including IEEE International Humanitarian Technology Conference (IHTC) 2014, BioMedical Engineering Symposium 2013, System Biology Symposium 2013, 25th IEEE Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE) 2012, BioEngineering Symposium 2011, 4-th Annual CANEUS IEEE Fly-By-Wireless workshop 2011, IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC) 2009, Mini-Symposium on Advances in Control Technology 2008 and Mini-Conference in Celebration of the Achievements of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science of Concordia University 2008. In 2013, I received the IEEE Montreal Section Outstanding Volunteer Award.
